Valsir Mountain Running World Cup Kicks off June 16 in USA

The Valsir Mountain Running World Cup 2023 is set to begin in under 40 days, bringing together elite athletes from around the world to compete in 17 challenging races at 11 events in 8 countries. The series is open to runners of all nationalities and backgrounds, with participants hailing from countries around the globe. Athletes will have the opportunity to compete against the best in the world, showcasing their skills and pushing themselves to new heights.

The Valsir Mountain Running World Cup 2023 has been granted World Athletics Permit race being the only off-road race circuit endorsed by World Athletics.

First Stage – USA

The first stage of the competition will be at the Broken Arrow Skyrace in Palisades Tahoe, CA. This year’s competition promises to be one of the most exciting yet, with top runners vying for the coveted World Cup title.

Broken Arrow Skyrace will host two events on the World Cup circuit with the Vertical Kilometer “VK” to be held on Friday, June 16, and the 23K Broken Arrow Skyrace on Sunday, June 18. The course for the VK is 6.8 kilometers (4.25 miles) with 954 meters (3135 feet) of vertical gain. Sunday’s race is a one-loop route over 23 kilometers (14.25 miles) with 1533 meters (5030 feet) of vertical gain and loss.

2023 World Cup Calendar

This year’s Valsir Mountain Running World Cup calendar will feature both Gold and Silver label races, traveling to countries including the United States of America, Poland, Portugal, Italy, France, Switzerland where we will even celebrate the 50th Anniversary of the mythical Sierre-Zinal, Spain and Slovenia. The competition promises to be intense, with athletes competing in challenging terrain under a variety of weather conditions.

Formed in 1984, the World Mountain Running Association is the global governing body for mountain running and has the goal of promoting mountain running for all ages and abilities.
