2XU. Say it with me: “Two times you.”

Two times ME? Uh, not sure that’s a good idea. Most people can barely tolerate just one of me. That was my first thought when I scoured the 2XU website looking for details on their new Form Stash Hi-Rise Compression Tights. But as I dug deeper and learned more about the company, I reframed 2XU as: “Me—only better.” Two times better!

Flattering side of hi-rise

With a lengthy product name like Form Stash Hi-Rise Compression Tights, I expect each word to contribute meaningfully to the overall description of the merch. Indeed, 2XU has left no ambiguity about their intentions with this phenomenal athletic apparel. It’s form-fittingly flattering, has loads of stealthy storage space, tops out above the belly button, and squeezes in all the right places.

Historically I’m not a fan of anything claiming to be high-rise, especially now that mom jeans are finally off-trend among the fashionista set. Hallelujah. I am, however, a fan of most things high-tech, so since 2XU co-mingled the two in one garment, I’m more than willing to give it a shot.

Snugness of 2XU compression

Proper compression gear should make getting dressed a bit of a challenge—it’s not something you just slip into. Similarly, removal should require the wearer to peel the clothing off like a second skin, turning it inside out as it strips to the floor.

When I first pulled the Form Stash Hi-Rise Compression Tights from the packaging and poked my right foot through one of the leg holes, I knew instantly that 2XU had gotten it right. I had to sit down for better leverage as I squirmed my way thigh-deep into the tights. Perfect. When I tugged the power mesh elastic waistband over my hips, I felt the characteristic schlurp! as the fabric swathed my midsection. This is exactly the sensation I’d hoped for! And good news: the Hi-Rise isn’t all that high. I found the waistband comfortably and appropriately situated just above my umbilicus.

Smart storage options

If the “high” aspect of the Form Stash Hi-Rise is a fortunate misnomer, the “stash” is one-hundred percent accurate. The bilateral pockets on each thigh are deep enough and snug enough to secure a standard-size cell phone without causing the tights to sag. Meanwhile, the waist band features a three-part pocket in the back where one can conveniently stash car keys, gel pouches, loose change, and much more. I’m forever grateful for smart storage solutions that save me from having to carry things in my hands or stuff them in my sports bra—which I’ve been known to do.

2XU Pricing

At $109.99 for a lightweight tight, 2XU is asking for more of an investment than an average athleisure legging, but the Form Stash Hi-Rise tights are far above average in style, function, and durability.

Versatility

Color choices go beyond boring black, and the sleek appearance coupled with graduated compression can’t help but make any wearer feel svelte. Lately, I’ve found them well-suited for early spring track workouts when the morning chill might place tight muscles at risk for strains. They also work just as well for chill activities like yoga. In fact, I spent most of today just chillin’ in the tights, grateful for the firm compression on a recovery day. Bet I’ll wake up tomorrow feeling twice as good as usual.
