For 2017, Spectrum Sports will combine the Catalina 50K and the Avalon 50 Mile run into the Avalon 50/50.
CLAREMONT, Calif. – (Mar. 29, 2016) – Spectrum Sports Management, the leading Southern California sports management event production agency, is adding a new event to the traditional Avalon 50 Mile Benefit Run. The new event will add the option of running a 50K—31 miles—that will run alongside the existing 50-mile course. The Avalon 50/50 events are in cooperation and benefiting the Avalon Lion’s, which guarantees scholarships to every graduating student from the local high school.
“We’re excited to bring participants not only a beautiful and challenging run, but an extraordinary running experience,” said Mike Bone, Race Director. “There are no cars and no smog on the trails, just great scenery, amazing views and at the end of the day, a great cause. It is our hope and intention that by introducing the new Avalon 50K distance we will open up a new market and provide a challenging, yet shorter option to this annual ultra trail run.”
The Avalon 50/50 is one of the most challenging, yet fascinating and charming scenic 50-mile races on the West Coast. Charities that benefit include: Avalon Hospital, Avalon High School Scholarships, the Catalina Island Conservancy, the Bill Putnam Health Care Fund and other local organizations. Spectrum Sports not only looks to promote a healthy lifestyle centered on these sporting events, but also takes on raising money for the benefit of many philanthropic organizations.
