Re-introducing your ATRA staff members!

This announcement about ATRA staff was written by Nancy Hobbs, Executive Director & Founder, American Trail Running Association. Learn even more about Nancy in this recent WeRunFar profile with ATRA member iRunFar.  Photo above by Robert Rhodes.

We are growing and we thank you for being part of our success! As such, I wanted to take this opportunity to introduce (or perhaps re-introduce) you to our ATRA staff.

I am the founder (1996), and Executive Director handling tasks from membership to publicity, newsletters to e-blasts. My background in the running industry spans three decades and includes administrative, marketing, and promotional roles for various non-profits, as well as seats on boards – past and present – at the local, regional, national and international level, freelance writing and photography, coauthoring The Ultimate Guide to Trail Running (two editions, and translated to Japanese), coaching, and leading international teams in World Championship events. I am working on a series of trail guide books with ATRA president Adam W. Chase, with the first of five books available from Falcon Guides this May.

Richard Bolt (pictured above) is our Director of Online Marketing for just over two years, and prior to that, was a member of our advisory board. Richard manages our new website including overseeing submissions to our 6000-plus event calendar and Trail News articles. In addition, he manages ATRA social media accounts, attends dozens of trail running events and trade shows including Outdoor Retailer. Early in his athletic career, Richard was a high school state champion in cross country running, a junior national champion in Nordic skiing, NCAA division I All-American and athlete member of the US Mountain Running Team. Currently, Richard servers on volunteer councils including USATF’s Mountain Ultra Trail executive committee, is an experienced leader of Team USA’s mountain and trail teams, and has had a successful career in software and distribution operations.

Peter Maksimow (pictured above) is our newest addition having started in February 2016, as our Outreach and Partnership Specialist. Peter, who holds a masters degree in Athletic Administration, will be working most closely with our membership program and will also assist with special projects. As the youngest member of our team, Peter maintains his child-like qualities by coaching the Kokopelli Kids Junior Olympic Program in Colorado Springs, organizing Team Colorado, running on trails and mountains around Pikes Peak, and he has also been spotted roaming around the mountains of Scotland, Switzerland, France, Italy, Wales, and the UK to keep his “research” up-to-date. Peter does a bit of competitive running himself, having represented silver medal-winning Team USA at the World Long Distance Mountain Running Championships in Zermatt, Switzerland in July 2015.

We three look forward to helping you get the word out on your events, products, and services. Should you have any questions about getting more involved with ATRA, or utilizing your varied benefits, please feel free to reach out to any of us.
