NEWS: 2023 IAU 50 km World Championships in South Africa Are Cancelled

Announcement from the International Association of Ultrarunners (IAU) from December 9.

We are deeply sorry to have to announce the cancellation of the 2023 IAU 50 km World Championships scheduled for 28th May 2023 in Port Elisabeth, South Africa.

The LOC and Athletics South Africa decided that they were unable to continue with preparations for the event due to several constraints and have withdrawn from the contract to be the host of the Championships. We are confident of still having the IAU 50 km World Championships in 2023. We are working through strong options to secure the World Championships and details will be forthcoming in the new year.
