A sizable group of elite trail runners have qualified for the 2016 US Olympic Marathon Trials scheduled to take place February 13th in Los Angeles, California. Showing strong crossover talent on the roads are past members of the US Mountain Running Team, USATF national champions in mountain, ultra & trail running, a Western States 100 winner, a UTMB podium finisher, a WMRA World Mountain Running Champion, an IAU 100k & 50k World Champion and XTERRA national & world trail running champions.
On a related note, 2015 Junior World Mountain Running Champion & Boise State freshman Allie Ostrander recently ran 15:21.85 in the 5000m. Her time was below the 2016 United States Olympic Trials qualifying time of 15:25.00, making her eligible to compete in the 5000m US Olympic Trials in July. Read more about Allie’s accomplishment.
