Start Time: 7:30 AM
Get ready—Mud or Blood is back, and it’s going to be wild.
Welcome to the flat, fast gem of the Delmarva Peninsula. The Algonquin 50K is an ideal race for first-timers tackling the ultramarathon distance, as well as seasoned runners chasing a PR on a course with minimal elevation change. But don’t be fooled by how it looks on paper—this race delivers a true trail challenge.
Course Overview
Expect approximately 31 miles (or more—trail GPS watches are notorious for their inaccuracy). The route is a modified out-and-back with a unique middle section on the return trip. About 95% of the course runs on trail, including both single-track and wider horse paths. The terrain is mostly flat, but sections of sandy trail and potential standing water (depending on rainfall) can add difficulty. The race starts and finishes at Milburn Landing in Pocomoke River State Park.
Aid & Support
Fully-stocked aid stations every 5–6 miles will keep you fueled and moving. Offerings include water, Tailwind Nutrition, soda, boiled potatoes, salty snacks, and yes—CAKE.
Be prepared for cold, mud, rain, snow, and possibly icy conditions. Volunteers will be posted at road crossings where traffic is minimal. Horses will sweep the course to ensure everyone’s safe return.
