Description:

THIS YEAR WE ARE CHANGING THE RACE! READ ON…

No course markings?! We are adventure racers. Adventure racers use maps. Maybe you want to try this too? We are hard at work taking pictures, marking distances, and making maps so this alteration is more fun than fear. The trails in both parks are well established, color coded, and marked often. The entire course loosely follows a river and/or old railroad bed to follow back in the case anyone gets off trail. Course maps/directions/instructions MUST be downloaded and carried be all runners. These will be made available once the snow melts and the trails look closer to what they will later in the summer. They will NOT be available at registration and please do not rely on downloads kept on your phone. Orienteering flags will be set out in strategic places along the course. Runners will need to punch in as proof that they stayed on course. No punch = no proof. Winners will be determined by punching every checkpoint and then by fastest time. If the slowest person to come in is the only person to punch all the checkpoints, they win. Each checkpoint is unique and cannot be bypassed of faked. These checkpoints will also serve as reference points to reassure runners they are on course.

Big thanks goes to the Steep Rock Association (steeprockassoc.org) and the Roxbury Land Trust (roxburylandtrust.org) for opening up their parks to us for the NYARA Trail Run Series at Steep Rock Preserve. Please help support those that support us. These organizations exist through private donations and volunteers.

The NYARA Trail Run Series is a collaborative effort to spread the word about trail running and to produce the most recognizable, enjoyable, root slipping, mud sloshing, tree ducking, river crossing, hill climbing, dirt on your shirt, sweat in your eye trail runs on the planet!
