Harambee Marathon Relay &Women’s 10K Run May 25-26 /2024

The Harambee Relay and Women 10k will occur at El Camino Real Park trailhead.
El Camino Real de Tierra Adentro was blazed atop a network of footpaths that connected Mexico’s ancient cultures with the equally ancient cultures of the interior West. Starting in Mexico City, the frontier wagon road brought settlers into today’s New Mexico. Once travelers crossed the arid lands above Ciudad Chihuahua, they followed the wide Rio Grande Valley north into New Mexico.
The Harambee relay format was based on the Ekiden races native to Japan, where six runners teamed up for legs of varying lengths to cover the classic 42.195 KM (26.2 miles marathon distance.)

It allows runners to participate in the marathon experience, access race support, and enjoy the companionship of competition without committing to run the entire distance.

The first, third, and fifth legs were 5 km each, the second and fourth legs were 10 km each, and the final leg covered the remaining 7.195 km.
The Women’s 10K Run will begin at sunset on Saturday, May 25, at 6 pm.
The Harambee Marathon Relays will start at sunrise on Sunday, June 26, at 6 am.

The race course is a circuit lap of 5K, 7.197KM, 10KM.
