Event Description
It’s our 5th anniversary, come get wood with us!

NEW THIS YEAR: Ambassador thingy! Get registered, then tell your friends from now until 10/1 to register and drop your name (first and last) for the ambassador question. The top 20 ambassadors that have a minimum of 5 references will get a free vintage track jacket with special Run of the Dead logo. This is only for ambassadors and anyone that has participated all 5 years because we love you!

Runners can choose one of the following distances:

8 x 4.25-mile loops on the top of every hour starting at 8am for 34 miles total,
4 x 4.25-mile loops on the top of every hour starting at noon for 17 miles total,
2 x 4.25-mile loops on the top of every hour starting at 2pm for 8.5 miles total

This elimination-style event means that if it takes you 40 minutes to run a loop, you will have 20 minutes to relax and grab a bite, or if you dare, compete in the King & Queen of the Hill Challenge and run some hill repeats before everyone begins the next loop. If, however, you don’t finish any loop within the hour, you are disqualified.

There is an aid station halfway through the loop stocked with food & drink and the best damn volunteers around. The start / finish area will have food and music.

If you find yourself thinking, “I have an entire hour to complete one 4.25-mile loop? Pfft, that’s easy.” Then we’ve got the King and Queen of the Hill Challenge. Have a few minutes to burn at the end of your loop? See how many hill repeats up the sled hill you can complete over the course of the event. Brag about it at the after-party. A king and queen will be determined based on the runners with the highest number of hill repetitions. Oh, and there’s beer and margaritas at the top of the hill.

Capacity
The 2019 event is limited to 400 participants. No race day registration.

What the Hill?!
Speaking of the hill challenge, run up that stupid hill to grab your hill patch. It’s optional, but the patch is rad so you’ll do it; everyone loves free shit! In addition, the top male and female in each event will get something magnificent. Set the new 4-loop & 8-loop male or female hill repeat record and we’ll give you your entry fee back. You can’t, but we’ll have fun watching you try! See here for the current records: https://libertyvillerunningclub.wordpress.com/x-run-of-the-dead-elimination-run-x/

Anti-conformity Swag
All participants of the 8-loop event will receive Run of the Dead printed jogging pants and Run of the Dead printed Goodr sunglasses. All participants of the 4-loop event will receive Run of the Dead printed jogging pants. All participants of the 2-loop event will receive Run of the Dead printed Goodr sunglasses. Cross that finish line before 4pm to get this year’s finisher drinking vessel.

Awards & Party
Awards ceremony and after party and free beer (one beer ticket included with registration) at 4:30pm at a local brewery. We are working on the details of the food buffet that will be available for purchase at packet pickup. In addition to race swag, the following award categories are for each event:

Overall Female*
Overall Male*

Queen of the Hill
King of the Hill

Finisher and top awards will be shared to our Facebook page soon – they’re not your average trophy!

*Note that though this is not a cumulative timed event, the last loop of each event will be manually timed to determine the overall winners only.

Packet Pick-Up
Packet pick-up will be held Saturday, October 26th from 10am – 5pm at Lifestyle Cycle – 326 S. Milwaukee Ave., Libertyville, IL 60048. There will also be a day-of option at the event start area. However, you’ll be entered into a raffle to win a fat tire bike only if you pick up at Lifestyle Cycle because our sponsor is rad! Also, we’ll have free beer, because you want MORE beer.

Refund Policy
Race registration fees are not refundable. However, there is an option to transfer a bib or change distances up until 10/1.
