Description:
Kiss the Goat is unlike most trail running races. This is an uphill time trial. A mini form of a sky race runners will spend most of their miles going uphill to reach the highpoint of Chimney Rock which overlooks beautiful Perry County, Kentucky. At Chimney Rock is where you get to meet, and blow a kiss to the goat. To make things even more fun runners start individually one minute apart. This makes it tricky to know how well you’re pacing, and the constant thinking of am I going hard enough? Too hard? Or just the right pace? Runners will get to see many of their fellow runners start and finish with this format and create an exciting race environment that leaves everyone on the tip of their toes.
We will post exact course details in days to come, but the rough numbers are 1200ft gain, 4 mile course with 3 miles up, 1 mile down.
If you haven’t done a similar workout like this before in training then consider spectating or volunteering to see what this is all about. The climb will have very little relief. Poles will be allowed. Water will be in various places on course but running with a pack/bottle is highly suggested. Temps will be hot. Do not underestimate the difficulty of this event and what it may look like to push yourself deep into the pain cave. Many people can do this, it will hurt, but many can safely do it. However, if you’re new to running at very high efforts, in the heat, or up steep terrain then this may be something that you test the waters in elsewhere. We ask that you don’t come here and overdo it. This will be an annual event. If the going gets tough, there is always 2023 to best your time. Safety first to all runners who race this.
