Empire State Run Up

86 flights of stairs in the Empire State Building Run-up. A quick 1,576 steps will get you from the ground floor to the Observation Deck that looms nearly a quarter of a mile above Fifth Avenue. Invitation only.

The iconic Empire State Building Run-Up will be held on Tuesday, May 14th, 2019. For a chance to compete, the lottery will open in late January. Entries will be accepted through Sunday, February 24th at 11:59 p.m. ET.

Thousands of climbers from around the world will enter, vying for a chance to race up the Empire State Building’s famed 86 flights and 1,576 stairs. If selected, race entry is $125 per applicant. Climbers will be notified of their race status via email on February 20, 2019.

Climbers may also gain entry by fundraising for the Challenged Athletes Foundation. The mission of the Challenged Athletes Foundation (CAF) is to provide opportunities and support to people with physical challenges, so they can pursue active lifestyles through physical fitness and competitive athletics. The Challenged Athletes Foundation believes that involvement in sports increases self-esteem, encourages independence, and enhances quality of life.
