Coyote Wall Trail Races

There are no words adequate to describe my excitement in announcing the birth of two beautiful, challenging, and new trail races in the iconic Columbia River Gorge: The Coyote Wall 50k and 25k !!!!!

The 50k will take place Saturday, November 2nd, 2019 and the 25k on Sunday, November 3rd, 2019. The 50k has 7,300’ feet of climb, while the 25k features 4,000’ of climb, all on breathtaking trails with sweeping vistas. The races are grand and thoughtfully crafted tours of this unique Cascade rainshadow ecosystem, with minimal amounts of repeated trails. Mount Hood’s imposing volcanic pyramid looms large over much of the course, while other parts of the course flow between Douglas fir forest and oak savanna, and grasslands with seemingly endless viewscapes of the Columbia River Gorge. This is truly a special race in a special place.

This is a rugged, sometimes very technical, and fairly steep course that will challenge even the most seasoned trail runners. The 50k is not necessarily a great choice for a first ultramarathon. However, with a 9½ hour cutoff for the 50k and a 5½ hours for the 25k, adequately prepared trail runners of all speeds will be able to finish.

I have been working on this for the better part of two years, coordinating with multiple agencies and land owners to make this spectacular, soul stirring course come together. I am particularly grateful to Kreps Ranch and the Columbia River Gorge NSA for their time and generosity.
