Cold Mountain 50k and 25k
The Cold Mountain 50k/25k is Haywood County NC’s very FIRST trail race that spans a remote section of Pisgah National Forest and the Cold Mountain Game Lands. The course climbs high above Lake Logan and traverses Lickstone Ridge, crossing high mountain creeks that originate in the headwaters along the Blue Ridge Parkway, then descends to the West Fork of the Pigeon River bordering Shining Rock Wilderness and Middle Prong Wilderness. The race will begin and end at Sunburst campground with a bonfire and post race cookout for all runners.

Required Gear
Due to the remote nature of the course and unpredictable weather in late winter each runner will be required to carry a hydration pack with:
-minimum 40 ounces of water
-space blanket
-safety whistle
-headlamp
-warm hat/gloves
-weather proof jacket
This is required by the USFS as part of our permit. You will not be allowed to run without these items.

25k-3000ft

Aid Stations
There will be aid stations stocked with typical aid station fare every 5-8 miles. 50k runners will be allowed one drop bag at the halfway point.

Cutoffs
Cutoff for this event is 12 hours

Refund Policy
There will be no refunds for this race. We are at the mercy of the US Forest Service for permitting of this race and they reserve the right to cancel this race all the way up to race day. We will ALWAYS do everything in our power to make this race happen, but in the unfortunate event that the race must be postponed or cancelled we will not be able to provide any refunds. Register here.
