Trails Are For Every Body – Liz

The following profile is a part of our Trails Are For Every Body Instagram series produced by ATRA board member Kriste Peoples.

The American Trail Running Association (ATRA) celebrates trail running athletes at all levels of engagement and ability, and because the Trails Are For Every Body, each week we’re sharing the profiles of trail enthusiasts you might not otherwise know. If you’ve been enjoying these profiles, let us know! And if you’re an everyday trail running enthusiast who’d like to share your story with us, we’d love to hear from you, as well!

Meet Liz, whose favorite trail activity is running followed by mountain biking.

“Being on the trail balances me…physically, mentally, and emotionally. The trail has taught me to be part of my surroundings, taking in all the sites and sounds of Nature. The trail has encouraged me, laughed with me, cried with me, and allowed me to be my authentic self, without any judgement or expectation. It is something I can do by myself, with family, or total strangers (who usually end up as friends).

“Trails are for every body because you don’t have to be a certain “type” to be on the trail. The Trail welcomes everyone, regardless of age, body type, experience, or personality. I started trail running for my 60th birthday as a gift to myself in order to have a healthy lifestyle, challenge myself, and be part of an amazing community of like-minded people.”

Thank you, Liz for sharing your trail love story with us!

If you’d like to share your trail love story, we want to hear from you!
