Trail Runner’s Gear Review: Swiftwick Pursuit Sock

Swiftwick Pursuit Seven Crew Sock reviewed by trail runner Laura Clark. Laura is an avid mountain, trail and snowshoe runner who lives in Saratoga Springs, NY, where she is a children’s librarian.

We all know a good sock is worth its weight in gold as blisters are the number one reason folks drop from long distance events. Swiftwick socks are designed with reinforced heels and toes that preclude susceptibility to blistering. Moreover, they fit true to size so there is no bunching to further irritate feet. I chose the crew model to maximize the compression factor and offer support.

While I prefer a thicker sock for sub-freezing temperatures, I discovered that the Merino wool does an excellent job of wicking moisture away from your feet, making the ultralight cushion work for all but extreme cold. Not to mention the carbon footprint concern since Merino wool is a naturally renewal resource and sustainably sourced.

If you are looking for a pair of socks that give your feet a reassuring hug without smothering, then this is the pair for you!
