Québec Mega Trail (QMT) is proud to announce that, for the third year in a row, one of its events has been selected to be part of the prestigious Salomon Golden Trail National Series (GTNS). Thanks to a special agreement with the organization, the QMT-25, which will be happening on July 2nd 2023, will allow the participating athletes to earn twice the points in the GTNS ranking.

This makes the QMT the only Canadian race in the GTNS in 2023. There are four other races in the United States: Breakneck Point 21K, +1,300m, the Broken Arrow Skyrace 23K, +1,510m, Pikes Peak Ascent 21K, +2,832m and the Mammoth Trail Fest 26K, +1,400m to complete the North American calendar of the mythical circuit.

“We are very excited to know that our most popular event is the only Canadian event of the Golden Trail Series. There is no doubt that it’ll be an incredible show to watch! By offering the runners twice the points, we are consolidating our status as the most competitive race in the country, both on long and short distances.” – Jean Fortier, General director and founder of Québec Méga Trail

“QMT is recognized as one of the most beautiful and most challenging races in Canada. Salomon is thrilled to highlight this prestigious event as part of the Golden Trail National series for the 3rd consecutive year, giving the opportunity to elite runners to measure themselves against the world’s bests. Whether you are new to the sport or a professional athlete, QMT is a true celebration of trail running and should be on everyone’s bucket list!”Virginie Murdison, marketing manager of Salomon

The grand final of the GTNS, which will welcome the highest ranked athletes, will take place from October 19 to 22 during the Il Golfo Dell’Isola Trail Race ITA event, in Italy (23K, +1,200m).

Last year, Jean-Philippe Thibodeau (Québec) and Katheryne Short (British Columbia) won the QMT-50 event, which was on the GTNS, in 5:01:49 and 5:40:42 respectively.

The QMT-25 event, sponsored by PCN Physiothérapie, is a 25.9 km trail (level 3/5) leading to Mont-Sainte-Anne, and counting 950m of positive and negative elevation. The race allows athletes to cross the incredible and lush western plateau of Mont-Sainte-Anne and observe the Laurentians by hurtling down superb single tracks along the Jean-Larose stream.

The event, which is already sold out for the 2023 edition, will welcome a total of 600 runners, including several international runners.
