Japanese Psychedelic Artist Uses CW-X Tights As Canvas

NEW YORK, N.Y. (August 17, 2015) – The Wacoal Sports Science Corp. (WSSC), makers of CW-X Engineered Endurance Apparel, is offering a limited edition tight featuring a print by one of the leading pop artists of postwar Japan whose work has been on the album covers of The Jefferson Airplane and The Monkees.

Keiichi Tanaami, born in 1936 in Tokyo, has been an active multi-genre artist since the 1960s – as a graphic designer, illustrator, video artist and fine artist. CW-X’s parent company, Wacoal Corp., commissioned a limited edition pair of StabilyX Tights that will be available at select locations this October.

Tanaami’s erotic paintings featuring Hollywood actresses done in the early 1970s became an important body of work that declared him as a Japanese artist with a witty eye for American culture. Wacoal Corp. actively collaborates with artists – it also produced underwear designed by Yayoi Kusama in 2011. The limited run of Tanaami-print tights will be sold in the CW-X booths at the Bank of America Chicago Marathon Health and Fitness Expo, Oct. 9-10, 2015, and the TCS New York City Marathon Health and Wellness Expo, Oct. 29-31, 2015. They will retail for a suggested price of $200.

CW-X StabilyX Tights have been chosen to carry the new exclusive print design. The StabilyX Support Web provides optimum targeted support to the hip, pelvic and knee joints for greater overall stability, endurance, and recovery.

“Runners want a bit of flash these days. For a few years now, CW-X has offered performance apparel that goes way beyond basic blue and black with bold new accents, including polka dots, rainbow stitching, and constellation patterns,” said John L.A. Wilson, WSSC president and COO.

“These pop-art tights are our boldest print designs yet and will really draw attention out on the trails and roads.”

Wacoal Sports Science has been issued over 50 patents for CW-X technology worldwide. CW-X has been extensively tested and proven in competition by Olympians, Tour de France cyclists, successful Mt. Everest expeditions, and professional baseball, football, soccer, and rugby players.
