Are You a California Trail Warrior?

Press release from ATRA corporate member Race SLO.

Inaugural Warrior Trail Run Adventure race launches the #CaliforniaWarrior campaign for people to share their personal inspiring stories; register today to be part of a one-of-a-kind “California Warrior” off-road experience at Camp San Luis Obispo on March 23-24, 2018.

SAN LUIS OBISPO, California – The inaugural Warrior Trail Run Adventure, slated for Friday & Saturday, March 23-24, 2018 at Camp San Luis Obispo military base, has announced the #CaliforniaWarrior campaign and its October “Are You a California Warrior?” contest for a chance to be featured as a California Warrior and to win free entries. This unique event, produced in partnership by Race SLO and The California Military Department, invites people to share their personal California stories of triumph, overcoming obstacles, selfless service or reaching health & fitness goals.

“What is a #CaliforniaWarrior? #CaliforniaWarrior is a celebration of California values. More than 20,000 Soldiers, Airmen and cadets in our state took a special oath to serve California. These people are doing incredible things for our state every day. However, many folks don’t even realize that there is a California Military Department. #CaliforniaWarrior showcases what’s possible when others, who are passionate about service & community, team up with a fresh, inspired military,” said Carl Trujillo, Acting Director, California Military Department Foundation.

People can share their #CaliforniaWarrior stories three ways on www.warriortrailrun.org:

  • Social: Share their stories to be highlighted on WTR’s Facebook or Race SLO’s Instagram.
  • Individual Website Form: Share story on website to win one of 12 entries and be featured; DEADLINE = October 31, 2017
  • Organization Website Form: Share story about an organization to be highlighted at the event; DEADLINE = January 30, 2018

“We look forward to reading and sharing these inspirational stories of how people found and developed their inner California Warrior by accomplishing or overcoming something they once thought impossible. These rich human experiences are one of the pillars that both Race SLO and The California Military Department pride themselves on,” said Samantha Pruitt, Race SLO Founder & CEO.

The inaugural Warrior Trail Run Adventure on March 24, 2018 will offer the following events for all ages & abilities: 5K, 10K, 1 mile, military grade Challenge Obstacle tower-high ropes and rock wall, a team Leadership Reaction Challenge, an Environmental Legacy Hike up Cerro Romauldo and a Camp SLO Historical Legacy Tour. In addition, there will be a one-of-a-kind Overnight Military Challenge open to 100 participants on Friday, March 23. Camp SLO, established by the governor of California in 1928, is located on pristine lands 6-plus miles northwest of San Luis Obispo on State Route 1.

During the event, the free-to-the-public California Warrior Festival will offer exclusive access and insight into the world of the California Military Department. Connect with, and get to know the California Military Department in a fun, educational environment. Since 1850, the California Military Department has been committed to California. Today, they are proud to be changing the way Californians define “military”. Over food and fellowship, with music in the background, guests are invited to celebrate the values, diversity and tenacity that have always made California – and her military – a trend-setting leader for others to follow.
