Description:
The Willamette Headwaters Endurance Events, or WHEE Run comes in three distances 11, 22 and 33 miles. All races are out and back along the beautiful Middle Fork National Recreation Trail #3609 in the Willamette National Forest. The course is 99% trail with some roots, rocks and stream crossings. Navigation will be simple, all turns and road crossings will be marked. The course follows the middle fork of the Willamette river to the headwaters at Lake Timpanogas. Course highlights include a section on a historic military wagon road, a section through an old burn, an old growth grove, a few trips in an out of the river valley and a big climb to the headwaters for the 33 milers. There will be 3 fully socked aid stations including Chuckle Springs, with the best tasting water in the world. The start and finish line will be at the Sacandaga Campground, 26 miles southwest of Oakridge Oregon.
