Vertical K – Limone sul Garda, Italy

As part of the Skyrunner® World Series’ weekend finals, the Vertical Kilometer® yet again represents the flagship event of the discipline. The race takes part at dusk on the shores of Lake Garda, and climbs for 1,080m over a 3.7 km course lit by torchlight. The shore-line start is 60m above sea level. It travels through the old town of Limone to climb through olive groves along a steep trail, through a wooded stretch and then follows the crest to the summit which tops out at 1,160m. Two brief descents just before the finish are anything but relaxing. The town lights and torchlights reflected in the lake below offer a memorable view.
