For 2019 we are resting our vegan ultra race in favour of V3K Half – BUT, for 2020 V3K Ultra will be back with a vengence!!!!
V3K Ultra crosses all the mountains over 3,000ft in Wales, also known as Welsh 3,000s or 15 (formerly 14) Peaks, it’s a classic route loved by anybody with any sense. It is also unique as a UK route because of its successive 2-3000ft ascents and descents (plus one more near 3,000ft and many smaller ones).
You must be able to show that you have completed at least two races in the last two years with an average of 50m climb per km and at least 30km.
If you have completed V3K in previous years you automatically qualify, please let us know which year/years you completed.
Registration and briefing is at Hendre Hall, Bangor on Friday June 26th at 7pm. Race Breifing is cumpulsory unless you’ve run V3K before.
V3K Ultra starts at Nant Gwynant then climbs over the first ridge of Bwlch Main to Snowdon, second and third ridges of Carnedd Ugain and the knife edged arête of Crib Goch then down via North Ridge. Next the Glyderau, starting with a huge slog up Elidir Fawr, then Y Garn, Glyder Fawr, Glyder Fach and Tryfan. Then the third and final section which takes in 7 of the Carneddau, Pen yr Ole Wen via the track leading to Glan Dena over Carnedd Dafydd, Yr Elen, Carnedd Llewelyn, Foel Grach, Foel-fras, then Carnedd Gwenellian (marked Carnedd Uchaf on older maps), then head towards Bangor for celebratory food and cheer.
The aid stations have good vegan food and drink but please let us know if you have any other dietary need. There will be marshals along the route at strategic places and each summit is a checkpoint. You must visit all 15 of the 3,000ft peaks.
Anyone coming down Bristly Ridge or the North Face of Tryfan or up the south corner of Pen yr Ole Wen will be disqualified. You must follow the route. Anybody dropping litter will be disqualified. Runners must remain vegan throughout the day
