Description:

The 2022 Colorado Cup Snowshoe Race at Colorado Mountain College will also serve as the 2022 USA National Youth Snowshoe Racing Championship. Youth racers from across the nation will ascend to Colorado Mountain College Leadville to compete in the 5K championship. Racers that are in high school or college are eligible to compete for individual and team championships. The annual Colorado Cup Snowshoe 10K race will also take place concurrently.

The race course will feature spectacular trails for novice and experience snowshoe racers alike. Fly through the woods all while racing in the shadows of Colorado’s highest peaks, and follow in the footsteps of past championship racers from the storied snowshoe racing venue of Colorado Mountain College!

Course description:
Course will start and end on the Nordic ski warm up loops at the multi-purpose field at Colorado Mountain College Leadville. Racers will run a western and eastern loop. The course will be marked extremely well.

Directions to start:
The starting line is on the multi-purpose field at Colorado Mountain College Leadville.

Parking:
Racers will park in designated parking spaces at Colorado Mountain College Leadville.

Awards info:
The top seven high school and collegiate runners in each gender will be decalred All-American. The top five racers in each gender in the colegiate and high school categories will become mebers of the national snowshoe team. The top three male and female racers in the 10K will receive a prize. The top male and female high school teams will win an award. Team scoring for the collegiate and high school races is as follows:

A team must have at least three runners.
The top three runners on each team score the team’s points. Example: a perfect score is 1 + 2+ 3 = 6.
The 4th and 5th runners on a team will displace. The 4th runner is the tiebreaker.
The 6th and up runner on a team do not count for team scores.
In the unlikely event a team’s 6th and 7th runners are in the top seven overall, they are still eligible for individual awards.
Packet pickup:

Racer packet pickup will take place in Coronado Cafe. This is where the restrooms are, too. Masks are required for all racers in the Coronado Cafe.
