Description:
Race 4 of the Trail Running Series 2021 heads to a spectacular new venue, The Werribee Gorge State Park just outside Bacchus Marsh, 1hr drive from Melbourne.
Werribee Gorge is a steep sided river valley with soaring cliffs, bold rocky outcrops and dense Aussie bushland split by the meandering waters of the Werribee River. The steep sided ravine is quite unlike any other race venue and looks more similar to the Gorges of the MacDonnell Ranges in central Australia than a Victorian regional park – we can’t wait to show it to you!
Werribee Gorge is located just off the Western Freeway, a short way past Bacchus March with the race centred at the scenic Meikles Picnic Area on the Werribee River. Each course offers a challenging mix of single tracks, gravel double tracks, rock outcrops , wild ascents and descents all whilst you get to enjoy being immersed in nature… the gentle sound of the river flowing, spectacular views, and if you’re lucky enough, you’ll spot wallaby’s, koalas, peregrine falcons and more!
