The 9th annual Rob Krar Ultra Camp Summer Retreat offers the opportunity to meet one of the world’s premier ultra runners in his hometown of Flagstaff, Arizona. Our marquee event, this five night camp has it all. Experience wonderfully smooth single track, technical running in the pines, the magnificent alpine environment high in the volcanic San Francisco Peaks and the aspen-filled Inner Basin, and heat training on the red rocks of Sedona.
My wife Christina and I hosted our first running camp during the summer of 2015 and our offerings continue to expand each year. We have been surprised and deeply affected by the connections we have made through inviting the trail and ultra running community to our home. In a small group that allows for generous individual attention, you’ll get to run alongside us in some of our favorite—and most beautiful—places to train. The goal of our camps is to provide an inspirational, educational and once-in-a-lifetime running experience unlike anything available in our sport.
Each of our camps offer guided trail runs over a variety of terrains, distances and altitudes. Camp is best experienced by runners who are healthy and in good fitness with at least some experience training for and competing in trail and ultra distance races. Participants should arrive fit, healthy and rested and be comfortable running for several hours at a time to be best prepared for the variety of terrain, temperatures, grades and altitudes that they will encounter. You do NOT need to be an advanced competitive runner to attend camp.
Our goal is to bring together the ultra running community to learn not only from us, but each other. Many of our friends—avid and experienced trail runners themselves—come out to guide and share their knowledge during the week. Attendees are encouraged to run at paces they find comfortable and choose distances each day that best suit their training, goals and comfort level.
