Description:

100 miles/160k over 4 days in the Santa Monica mountains.

Southern California’s first multi-day stage race. We are combining our love for running with our passion for reviving the trails, affected by the recent fires in Ventura County. Come challenge yourself and give back to the regeneration of this beautiful landscape.

STAGE ONE
Saturday, March 9th 2019
“The Race within a Race”.
The Catalina Island Marathon. 26.2 miles/42 K
4310 feet of elevation gain (330m)
Race start 7 AM.

Finishers will receive a medal for completing the marathon and credit for completing stage 1 of the Chumash Ultra.

This stage is fully supported by marathon staff and volunteers.

STAGE TWO
Sunday, March 10th 2019
31.5 miles/50K
6000 feet of elevation gain (1830m)
This stage takes the runners from Malibu State Creek Park along the backbone trail to the famed Mishe Mokwa trailhead.

There will be THREE CHECKPOINTS that will provide runners with water only, participants must carry all other nutrition and electrolyte supply.

In addition to the check points there will be random control points at road crossings.

STAGE THREE
Monday, March 11th 2019
33 miles/54 K
6000 feet of elevation gain (1830m)
This stage will start and finish at the Sycamore Canyon campgrounds.

Athletes will go from sea level to the highest point in the Santa Monica Mountain Range: Sandstone Peak at 3,111 feet.

This stage has some very technical and challenging terrain.

There will be 3 to 4 CHECKPOINTS that will provide runners with water only, participants must carry all other nutrition and electrolyte supply.

In addition to the check points there will be random Control points at road crossings.

STAGE FOUR
Tuesday, March 12th 2019
11 miles/18K
1500 feet of elevation gain (460m) with 2800 feet of elevation loss (850m).
The final stage will start on a portion of the Backbone trail located on Mulholland highway and Encinal Canyon and take runners up to the Buzzards Roost Ranch at 2373 feet above sea level, before descending along the Zuma Ridge trail, across the Pacific Coast Highway and finishing at Zuma Beach in Malibu. There are amazing views of the Pacific Ocean and Catalina Island.

There will NOT BE ANY CHECKPOINTS on this stage. But, there will be some control points to safely guide runners down an asphalted area and across Pacific Coast Highway.
