San Juan Sensation 60K and 30K
1816 Hot Spring Canyon Road, Lake Elsinore CA, 92675, USA
- This beautiful and challenging single-track trail is located in the Trabuco District and is easily-accessible from Orange and Riverside Counties. Be prepared for a very strenuous run as extreme exposure and tough climbing through switchbacks for the first several miles means this event is not for beginners. However, you’ll be rewarded with the most spectacular views as you climb and descend, making the effort well worth it!
Course:
The race begins at the San Juan Trail head starting at the San Juan Trail parking area off of Ortega Highway, Lake Elsinore, California and ascends to Blue Jay campground, where you will turn around and head back down. You’ll even get to pass by the famous, “Cocktail Rock!”
The 30K will ascend/descend once. The 60K will ascend/descend twice.
30K has approximately 3,500 feet of vertical gain. The 60K has approximately 7,000 feet of vertical gain.
Each distance has a 10-hour cutoff. (The 60K runners will need to complete their first out and back no later than 11 AM in order to begin their second one. Those who do not make it back to the start line at the San Juan trail parking area within the 5 hours will be pulled and will not be allowed to continue to do their second out and back).
There are two aid stations- One at San Juan Trail Head (the start) and the other at Blue Jay Campground (the out-and-back) which will include plenty of snacks, potatoes, fruit, pb&j, Coke, Mountain Dew, and Gingerale. *Hydration & electrolytes provided by TAILWIND NUTRITION. Gels, waffles, and salt capsules provided by GU ENERGY. Anti-chafe/blister skin salve provided by SQUIRREL’S NUT BUTTER.
