Official FKT Race

The Run For Shoes 50k and 100k FKT race was a dream of our founder, Scott. He loved to run the Issaquah Alps area and wanted to develop a race that traverses the three mountain areas, Cougar Mountain, Squak Mountain and Tiger Mountain and he calls it the Issaquah Alps Traverse. It is a course that is difficult to receive permits to run a one-day event and therefore it was decided to present this event as a virtual race. This is an opportunity to challenge yourself in the way a top trail runner attempts new FKT records. It’s you, the elements and a very challenging course. Choose your time of day, date, course support and go out and run your own personal FKT.

With over 8,400 vertical feet gain for the 50k and 15,900 feet for the 100k the traverse of these three mountains can give any ultra marathon runner a challenge. These are the trails and mountains that many national and world class trail runners train on daily. You’ll find technical trails that have gut busting climbs, with long quad burning downhills and this is the only event that encompasses all three Issaquah Alps mountain areas of Cougar, Squak and Tiger Mountains. Runners will hit the high point of each mountain area and the views can be spectacular on a clear day. Holding the virtual race in late Spring will give participants many water sources and views of a few waterfalls including the Coal Creek Falls.

This event will become one of the Vert Running Series races for 2023.

Attention: The 50k is limited to 150 participants and 100k has limit of 50.
