CHOTA TRAIL, is a race that takes place in a unique setting, the surroundings of the Yahuarcocha Lagoon (Blood Lake) and the Chota Valley, and as a background the Imbabura Volcano and the colonial city of IBARRA … one of the most beautiful cities in South America.
Since 2015 we started with a passion for the mountains, eight years sharing one of the best TRAIL routes in Ecuador.
We start from the Church of Yahuarcocha, we ascend to almost 3700 masl, and continue along beautiful trails and mountain passes, with views of Ibarra and the Imbabura, Cotacachi and Cayambe Volcanoes, we cross the Chota Valley with a hot and dry climate, desert but beautiful, foxes, eagles, owls share their mountains with us, a cocktail of emotions is running the CHOTA.
