Description:

Do you have what it takes to beat the cog? Well…you are going to have a chance to find out! There is a lot of planning over the next few months but it’s going to be incredible! We are planning to give a substantial donation to the maintainers of the Appalachian trail in the presidential range! Plus…the side of the tracks will be cleaned up this summer!!!
A second donation will be given to the mount Washington Observatory!!
Overall male and female winners in the elite category will get their own devils shingle…You can ride it down…just kidding! There will be an elite division which races the biodiesel, a steamer division and a biodiesel division with the train speed slowed down! There will be spectator trains with special swag for them to help cheer on the runners! The race will be held on private property and we will ensure the alpine zone is not affected!

We will have 3 categories offered. Elite pace for those who want to try to beat the train, Intermediate for those looking to push a bit more and chill for those who are looking to take in the day. The course stays on the Cog Railway property along the tracks the entire time.
For prize categories we will have prizes for the top three male/female in each category.
Spectator train rides will be sold through the Cog Railway. https://www.thecog.com
We will also need a zillion volunteers to make this event possible. The race course is about 3.1 miles long and follows the tracks the entire way. The lower half is not technical but as you approach the summit you will be doing a lot of rock hopping! The course climbs over 1000 feet per mile! The course tends right to business and takes you up Mount Washington the fastest way possible! Weather is unpredictable so even in June you can have snow! Be prepared for anything!
