Description:
You get to run from Placid Lake (near the town of Seeley Lake, MT) to Gold Creek (near Missoula, MT) through the heart of the Montana mountain country. You will start at Placid Lake state park near the town of Seeley Lake and finish at Gold Creek near the town of Missoula. We will shuttle you from the finish line (Gold Creek) to the start (Placid Lake) and you will run back to your car and your cheering family/friends. The run will consist of trail, closed Forest Service roads, and some miles of maintained, but seldom used, Forest Service roads. There will be a support station approximately every 10K, with a 20K and 30K bag drop option. The route will climb a few passes, but is not overly steep. It is nice mix of long steady climbs and long enjoyable declines. You will run through some burned sections, past old cabins, and along the route author Norman Maclean chronicled in his book A Ranger a Cook and a Hole in the Sky. There will be an after party at Conflux Brewing in downtown Missoula!
