OPSF 50|50 is a long standing Indiana tradition. This low key event in Owen-Putnam State Forest is provided by non-profit Indiana Trail Running Association (ITRA), and it’s an opportunity for people to run a lesser known Indiana course (even though it’s only an hour from Indianapolis!). Come join us!
2021 changes due to COVID-19:
The 50 mile option will NOT BE RUN in 2021. We anticipate its return in 2022.
The OPSF 50|50 race is a 50k distance race beginning at 9:00 a.m. and a 14 mile Run beginning at 11:00 a.m.
Weather: Spring in Indiana can provide interesting weather. 2018 brought a winter storm with sleet and snow! And then 2019 brought a 50° day and dry conditions! Please watch the weather and prepare accordingly!
PLEASE NOTE: This race is a CUPLESS race. This means you must have the ability to carry 20 oz of water on your person at all times. No cups will be provided at aid stations. We will only provide prepackaged food items at aid stations. There will be no post-race dinner. Masks will be required when entering aid stations until you exit. Thank you for understanding and following our safety guidelines
Set in Owen-Putnam State Forest and beginning at Horse Campground, runners traverse a 14 mile course consisting of 90% single track and horse trails with a few sections of fire road.
The course is a lollipop: Start/Finish to Aid A is the “stick” and a loop from Aid A through Aid B and back to Aid A is the delicious “pop”. Aid A to the Start/Finish completes the lollipop.
The 50k runners will run out the lollipop counter clockwise, do two “pops”, and then return to the Start/Finish. 50k runners will then do a counter clockwise lollipop with a truncated “pop”.
14 mile runners do one counter clockwise lollipop. Yum!
See the Course Map for more details.
Trails are rugged and there will be mud rain or shine! It’s the toughest trail race in Indiana!
