Description:

This is a road race.

The MadCity Ultras is a non-profit organization comprised entirely of volunteers. The Local Organizing Committee (LOC) is recognized by the USATF as a trusted and dedicated group that has hosted the 100K National Championship race for the past 12 years.

Route
The MadCity course returns to our traditional 10K loop with the Start/Finish near the Vilas Park Shelter.The entire route is paved and consists of low-traffic open roads, multi-use path, and a three-block stretch of sidewalk.

Aid Stations
There will be two aid stations on the 10K course:

Aid Station #1 near the Start/Finish area. This station will include tables reserved for 100K Solo runners.

Aid Station #2 in the UW Arboretum approximately mile 3.75.

Both aid stations will provide water, sports drink, salty snacks and fresh fruit.

Medical Assistance
A medical professional will be on duty during the race and will be located at the Vilas Shelter race headquarters. The race headquarters is less than 1 mile from two major regional hospitals.

$2250 in prize money for USATF members.

100K Solo
The 2018 USATF 100K National Champions Anthony Kunkel (6:52:09.8) and Liza Howard (8:07:58.3).

The 100K Solo will once again be the USATF 100K Road National Championship on the USATF course for 2022. The winners of the Women’s and Men’s Open race will receive an automatic berth on the USA World 100K Team for the race to be held in August 2022 in Berlin, Germany. Rembmer you must be a USATF Member for this to apply.

The 100K Solo race starts at 6:30AM (Sunrise) on April 23 2022. The course will be open until 7:00PM, or 12.5 hours. For the safety of the runners and to ensure a timely wrap-up, any runner crossing the Start/Finish for Lap 9 after 6:00PM will be strongly encouraged to skip the final Lap.

50K Solo
The 50K Solo will once again be a USATF course for 2021. Runners’ 50K finish times will be valid in consideration for invitation to join Team USA for the upcoming 50K World Championship.

The 50K Solo race starts at 8:00AM on April 23 2022.

USATF Membership
Membership in the USATF is not required to enter the MadCity Solo races. However USATF membership is required to be declared a USATF National Champion for any race designated as the annual USATF National Championship.

Course Information
The course is a USATF-certified 10K loop located along the shore of Lake Wingra adjacent to Madison’s Vilas Park and winds through the beautiful UW Arboretum. Most of the course is open road with a three-block strech of recently-paved sidewalk.

For 2022 the course will be open from the start of the 100K at 6:30AM until 7:00PM. All runners must complete their race prior to the course closing time.

Solo Race Rules
The MadCity Solo races adhere to the USATF Road Race rules. A complete set of rules is located on the USATF web site.

Runner Gear and Nutrition Drop
The MadCity Solo runners may drop their bags containing gear and nutrition prior to the race.

Athletes who participate in National Championships and Team USA competitions are subject to drug testing performed by the U.S. Anti-Doping Agency (USADA) in accordance with the USADA Protocol for Olympic and Paralympic Movement Testing.
