Loyston Point Scramble Half Marathon/10k/Kids Trail Mile

The inaugural running of the Loyston Point Scramble consisted of a 7-8 mile course that wound circuitously through the Loyston Point recreation area, a TVA Norris Reservoir facility also known as Point 19, using marvelous trails including the Hemlock Bluff National Recreation Trail. The reception received from participants, coupled with the plethora of new trails that were completed in time for the 2016 race, sparked us to bump up the distance to half Marathon/10k, as well as a one mile Kids Trail Race. We then tried to add a mountain bike component, which was a ton of fun but problematic. Bikes raced in 2018 but not 2019, though we tried our best. So for 2020, we go back to the half/10k format, same courses as 2016, but the Hemlock Bluff trail won’t be leaf covered. It’ll still have its interesting moments, however.
