Description:

This race series is all within Long Hunter State Park, a few miles outside the Nashville city limits. All race distances circumnavigate Couchville Lake, go out and back on the Bryant Grove trail and do the cliff trail loop. The half marathon also does the Inland Trail while the Marathon and 50k courses go out to do different lengths of the Jones Mill trail. We start and finish in a beautiful, wide-open field that often has deer and turkeys strolling through.

A Long Hunter was a hunter/explorer out of the east coast who would spend a few months going West, typically Kentucky and Tennessee, before returning back home. Daniel Boone would be the most famous example. The arrowhead finisher awards are to also acknowledge who lived here when the Long Hunters were first arriving. Long Hunter State Park actually hosts the TN NAIA annual pow wow that brings in 10,000+ attendees.

On a side note, this is our home trail! Emily and I (Scott) live four miles from the park and go here all the time. We’re really happy we get to showcase this area to people. It’s beautiful and makes for a pretty fast, flat race.
