The Ice Age Trail 50 is one of the oldest continuously-running ultras in the country. Runners will experience dense deciduous forests, tall pines, rocky ridges and open prairies – and see the lakes, kettles, kames, erratics and other natural features left when the glaciers finally retreated from Wisconsin more than 10,000 years ago.
While the course tops numerous hills, none of them are extremely long or overly steep in nature, but they are incessant. The terrain consists of mostly single track dirt, rocky and tree rooted trail in the Southern Kettle Moraine Forest.
The event includes three distances:Â 50-mile, 50k and Half Marathon.
