Hilo to Volcano 50K and Relay

The annual Hilo to Volcano 50K Run/Walk/Relay is on Saturday January 10, 2026.

Hilo to Volcano 50K ultra and team relay is a challenging 31 mile run gaining approximately 4000 feet in elevation. It is challenging, an excellent accomplishment……………and super fun as a relay😊

The start will be at the underground parking lot of the Hilo Hawaiian Hotel on Banyan Drive, Hilo (same as last year).

Solo Runners: Start is at 6:00 am.

Relay Team Runners: Start is at 6:15 am.

This course utilizes shoulders on Hwy 11 and finishes at the Cooper Center in Volcano. Relay teams change runners every 2 miles at the even mile markers. There are no aid stations along the course, so runners are encouraged to bring their own water and nourishment. A light lunch, snacks, drinks and medals at the end.

Prizes for Solo Runners: Top 3 Female and Male runners overall, Top 2 Female and Male runners in each 10 year age group.

Prizes for Relay Teams with no more than 3 Runners: Top 2 Female, Male and Mixed relay teams up to 40 years, Top 2 Female, Male and Mixed “Masters” relay teams over 40 years (all members must be over 40 years old).

Prizes for Family and Student Relay Teams (no limit on team size): Top 2 Family relay teams (must be from same family), Top 2 Student relay teams (must all be high school students or younger).

Race ends at 2pm.
