Description:
New trails. New challenges. And a fast-paced dash over North America’s most iconic bridge.
Spartan Trail has teamed up with Pacific Coast Trail Runs & race host local Marin trail runner Dean Karnazes to forge an all-new adventure for the trail and ultra running communities: the Golden Gate Trail Classic.
This iconic event is a Blue Label race from the renowned Spartan Trail World Championship, the biggest Trail and Ultra Running Championship in the world. Experience the magic of the Golden Gate Bridge and the majestic trails of Marin and Mt Tamalpais at the inaugural Golden Gate Trail Classic. Starting in the iconic city of San Francisco, you’ll travel across the Golden Gate Bridge at sunrise and venture into the fabled Marin Headlands, where spellbinding panoramas of the mountains and sea await.
Steeped in legend and lore, the enchanting trails and wilderness of Marin County are a place of supreme beauty and stunning contrasts. With San Francisco as a backdrop, the Marin Headlands afford sweeping views of the city skyline and the deep blue Pacific sparkling along the coastline. Together with the towering mountains and lush redwood forests, this spectacular region of Northern California is the ultimate natural playground, a place to immerse the senses and invigorate the spirit.
As the birthplace of off-road racing in the US, a rich heritage of trail running looms large in the culture and ethos of the local community. I am blessed to call Marin County my home and warmly welcome you to the Golden Gate Trail Classic. It is not an easy course, but it is an endurance challenge you will never forget.
