Field Station Frenzy 5K Trail Run

The Field Station Frenzy 5K Trail Run & Walk is a family-friendly race held inside Indiana Dunes National Park at historic Chellberg Farm. The course features scenic trails, including portions of the Little Calumet River Trail and several historic landmarks. Grass, mulch, dirt paths, and boardwalk make up most of the route. Runners should expect true trail conditions — uneven surfaces, slippery leaves, roots, rocks, fallen branches, and other natural obstacles. For safety, no strollers or pets are permitted.

The Frenzy is part of the Calumet Region Striders’ Gold Cup Elite Series, offering long-sleeve tech shirts, custom bib numbers, handmade wood-burned awards, and post-race snacks. The morning also includes kids’ races (500m Tot Trot & 1K Fun Run) plus free on-site outdoor childcare during the 5K.

This event blends the joy of trail running with a cause, supporting Field Station Cooperative Preschool — a unique nature-based school that operates inside the National Park. Join us for a one-of-a-kind race experience!
