Description:

The Family Jewels 5K is an annual trail run or walk in memory of Bothell, WA, XC runner and Washington State University rower Jaimeson Jones. Jaimeson died on October 7, 2010, at the age of 20, of a recurrence of testicular cancer, the #1 cancer of men ages 15-44. He was first diagnosed at just 14. The Family Jewels 5K funds the Jaimeson Jones Memorial Scholarship, which provides college scholarships to local graduating high school students who have had a sibling with cancer. Our inspiration for these recipients was Jaimeson himself, who bequeathed his college savings to his two younger sisters, understanding very well the financial devastation his illness had caused the family. In May 2017, we awarded three scholarships to graduating Northshore School District students – come meet Hailey, Ryan and Alexandra!! This comprises a $40,000 commitment to these three families. Help us fulfill our promise to these local kids! Bring your friends, family, kids and dogs to raise awareness of early detection of testicular cancer in a family-oriented fun run, walk, or stroll.
