Dirty Dog 2025! The Dirty Dog Trail Marathon and Half Marathon races return for the 9th year in the Boise foothills on the spectacular Ridge to Rivers Trail System. The marathon course is challenging with big climbs and fast descents filled with lots of great single track. The first man and woman to reach the top of the Hard Guy climb will find a $100 bill waiting for them! The half marathon course is challenging yet great for a first time trail race. There is a combination of single track trails and some dirt road sections. There will be plenty of well stocked aid stations with enthusiastic volunteers. Come enjoy the amazing trails in our backyard here in Boise! Aid Stations for the Half Marathon are at miles 4.5, 6.8 and 8.9 and Aid Stations for the Full Marathon are at miles 4.5, 6.8, 14.5 and 21.5

Race Course

Both the marathon and half marathon start and end at Fort Boise. Runners begin by running up Mountain Cove Road until they reach the trail head for Military Reserve Connector. Going left up Military Reserve, they begin to enjoy the Ridge to Rivers Trail System trails including Crestline, Corrals, and Bob’s Trails. At the end of Bob’s, the half marathoners will loop back utilizing the 8th Street extension briefly before returning to the trails. The full marathoners will continue up on Highlands, Corrals, and Hard Guy before reaching the ridge and beginning the descent on fun trails including one lovingly referred to as Devil’s Slide. The first man and woman to reach the top of the Hard Guy climb will find a $100 bill waiting for them! The terrain is of moderate difficulty, providing a challenge to runners but not too hard for first timers. Click here for written directions to both courses.
