Join us in gorgeous Spanish Peaks Country of Huerfano County Colorado, for Colorado’s Premier Snowshoe race!
This event features an amazing trail running adventure in a wilderness setting sandwiched between the eastern flank of The Southern Sangre De Cristo’s Culebra Range, and west of the prominent and magnificent Spanish Peaks, all just north of Colorado’s border with New Mexico. This event features generous cut-offs to afford everyone ample opportunity to overcome the Adversity HPRS is known for, while enjoying the stunning views of this elevated area. The event has a distance for everyone, from beginner snowshoers looking to explore Cuchara’s winter wonderland, all the way up to our snowshoe 50k for the hearty trail and ultra veterans.
SNOWSHOES: Snowshoes will be required when snow depth is 6″ or greater. In the event that snow depths are <6″, we will host a trail running event without snowshoes instead. Traction devices may be recommended when snow depth is <6″. HPRS does NOT rent or own snowshoes. It is up to individual athlete to arrive to the event with their own snowshoes. !!NO SKIS!! No skis be they alpine, nordic, backcountry, 2x4s or other.

A NOTE ON CREWS/SPECTATORS/AND PACERS: Due to access difficulty in the area, this event does not permit spectators, crews, or pacers. All participants should plan to tackle the challenges of this event on their own. Spectators are welcome at the Start/Finish Line ONLY.
DROP BAGS: Drop Bags are welcome for all runners. You may have them at the Start/Finish and Spring Creek Aid Station ONLY. See the aid station chart for more info. Please leave nothing of value in your bag. Do not leave your drop bag behind. All abandoned drop bags are disposed of immediately at the conclusion of the event.
PACKET PICK-UP/CHECK-IN:Packet and bib number Pick-Up will take place from 5:00am – 9:30am on race morning, all at the Start/Finish Area. All runners must check-in with race staff the morning of the run by 15-Minutes prior to the start of their event. Runners not checked in by 15-Minutes prior to their race start will not be scored as official runners of the event.
PRE-RACE BRIEFING: Held virtually during race week leading up
PARKING: All runners and spectators must park at the designated parking locations ONLY. A map of these areas will be available closer to the race. We highly encourage all runners to PLEASE CARPOOL to the event. This helps limit our impact on other trail users. More information on carpool options will come close to race day.
AWARDS: All official finishers will receive a unique finishers award. We’ll also present special awards to DFL, and our Transcendence Award.
NO AWARDS WILL BE MAILED
PERMITS: This event is being held in accordance with permits from Huerfano County and The United States Forest Service – San Carlos Ranger District (permits pending). We ask that you please respect and care for the land this event is held on to help ensure the future of this race and to limit our environmental impact.
