Description:

Georgia’s HIGHEST 5k. It is also the hardest 5k in Georgia while being the safest. 1700 ft gain in 3.1 miles on a point to point road course. This race has been happening now for nearly 20 years. The course record is held by Adam Pinkston who now lives in Asheville in a time of 24:40. This was set in the 1990s and he ran a 14 minute track 5k the weeks leading into this race. This record has stood for over 20 years… WILL IT EVER BE BROKEN?

I am Sean Run Bum Blanton, the new race director/owner/founder of Run Bum Races. I have run 150 + ultra marathons around the world and mountain running is my passion. I have been 2nd and 3rd at the race a couple times. Always the bridesmaid and never the bride I joke.

This race and route is near and dear to my heart. I run it 10-20 times a year for training. I wanted to breathe some new life into this race. This race has history, good history. I hope to showcase that to the people of Georgia. This is the HIGHEST mountain in Georgia and the hardest road to “run”. But its also one of the most beautiful. The view at the top is earned.

This race is safe, fun and rewarding. What more could you ask for? tired of running the same old boring road 5ks in Atlanta? Step your game up and test yourself. 90% of you will walk some to most of this. This race is like a mullet, business in the front, party in the back. I took over this race to also make sure I am running it every year. I have moved it from December to April. Come run with me and run this mountain!
