Description:

Starting in 2022, the park is not allowing any special events to happen on the weekend or holidays. This is due to the huge increase in visitors over the past couple of years and the lack of adequate infrastructure (roads, parking etc.) to handle both an influx of the regular visitors to the island, plus the addition of several hundred cars for the race. The issue isn’t with the trails, it’s with the roads and other park infrastructure. When I first starting volunteering and race directing out there back in 2006, annual visitors numbered around 250,000. In 2021 the annual number of visitors to the park was well over 1,000,000. I’m having to use up a couple of extra vacation days from my day job as a result of this change, but it is what it is and we’ll all adapt. I hope you understand.
