Description: The Earth Day 5K is a fun trail run on ACLT's Parkers Creek loop, which descends through the forest to take runners along the creek in Prince Frederick, Maryland. The run will end at the North Side Trailhead where music and food trucks will be busy as well as kids activities and tours of the EDGE Garden and naturally grown, no-till farm - a great morning for individual runners or runners and their families! The extensive trails of the American Chestnut Land Trust/Parkers Creek Preserve invites visitors to enjoy one of the largest contiguous tracts of forest in Calvert County, Maryland. From dry, sandy upland woods to cool, moist ravines and along forested wetlands with views of the stunning creek, the trail system allows visitors to experience the remarkable ecology of this natural area. The American Chestnut Land Trust is a member supported, not-for-profit organization whose purpose is to protect the Parkers Creek watershed and its surrounding natural lands, ecosystems, waterways, and wildlife habitats. Established in 1986 as Maryland’s first grass-roots, community based land trust, nearly 3,000 acres have been protected. We maintain 20 miles of trails which are open and free to the public and offer regular opportunities to canoe on and study the pristine ecosystems of Parkers Creek. Our mission is not only to protect this beautiful and important region, but to encourage the community to share it with us and love it as much as we do!
