Oregon Trail Ultramarathon Race Series

Hello trail running Friends:

The attached web site below will have the final standings in the Oregon
Trail Ultramarathon Race Series.

The age groups and overall winners were:

Women:
20-29 Amy Smoker 96.06
30-39 Linda Samet 158.33  Overall Women
40-49 Rebecca Wallick 142.14
50-59 Lynn Yarnell 45.20
60 & Over Joanne Ross 71.60

Men:
20-29 Justin Soares 159.45 Overall Men
30-39 Stephan Willow 129.12
40-49 Steve Smucker 146.30
50-59 Robert Ross 92.21
60 & Over Bill Robbins 107.20

There were two very close finishes. John Pearch (20-29) finished with
159.14, .31 behind Justin. John and Justin also had some fun at the White
River race this summer.  Mike Hendrikson finished 129.02, .10 behind
Stephan Willow.

The results were computed by the Price Waterhouse accountants, using super
computers, so there would be no errors. :))  Actually, a big thanks to
Stephan Willow for going through the laborious process of using a
calculator to compute the results after every race.  The race directors got
off easy, we just had to drive down to REI and buy some gift certificates.

The idea for the series was suggested by the runners. The goal is just to
create personal challenges for the runners and inspire some friendly
competition. There is no special entry fee to particiate and there will
remain no requirement to score points, other than to finish a race.

The 2001 Oregon Trail Ultramarathon will have a few changes.  The series
will include FOUR races, McDonald Forest 50KM (April 28th), Siskyou Outback
50 KM (July 14th), Pacific Crest Trail 50 Mile/50KM (August) and the
Mckenzie River 50KM (September).

These are four races organized as fund raisers, and organized by
ultrarunners for ultrarunners.

There will be one RULE change. A MAXIMUM of three scores will count. That
doesn't mean you have to run three races, its your choice on how many races
you may want to enter.

If any trail ULTRAMARATON races are added to the series, we'll let you
know.  The race directors may not get around to updating our websites for
awhile, be patient and information for the 2001 races will be available by
the end of the year.

See you on the trails in 2001 for some more fun and for those who entered
any of these races, thanks!
