When I am visiting my parent's home in Northern Illinois, McHenry County, I run several
times in a park called Glacier Park, which is run by the McHenry County Conservation
district. The park has one of the highest points around, the delta kames which were left
as the glaciers retreated and melted during the last Ice Age. There are several entrances
to the park, and trail maps at all of them. There are rolling hill trails and a flat out
and back that follows the Nippersink Creek. If you get out there early, you can often see
deer. I know this park is out of the way, but if you live in the area or happen to be
nearby (heaven knows why!) and are looking for a nice place to run, this may fill the
bill.
