Talcott Mountain Reservoir Area, Hartford


Directions:: From the West: Take I-84 East to the New Britain Avenue/Corbins Corner Exit.  At the end of exit ramp, take a right onto New Britain Avenue.  At the first light, take a right onto Ridgewood Road.  Follow Ridgewood Road to the end.  Take a left onto Farmington Avenue and then take the first right onto Mountain Road.  At the second traffic light, take a left onto Albany Avenue.   Reservoir #6 is 1.1 miles on the right.

From the North, South and East: Take I-91 North or South to I-84 West to Exit 40 (New Britain Avenue/Corbins Corner).  At the end of exit ramp, take a right onto Ridgewood Road.  Follow Ridgewood Road to the end.  Take a left onto Farmington Avenue and then take the first right onto Mountain Road.  At the second traffic light, take a left onto Albany Avenue.  Reservoir #6 is 1.1 miles on the right.

Trail Information:: A nature lover's paradise, the area features 3,000 acres of beautiful forestland; there are more than 30 miles of paved and gravel roads for joggers and bicyclists, hiking trails (maps available), wheelchair-accessible picnic groves, cross-country skiing and snow shoeing, and horseback riding (by permit). Family pets are also welcome, provided they are always leashed. Ranger-patrolled for safety, the area is open from dawn to dusk.

Miscellaneous Information:: The MDC's Talcott Mountain Reservoir area is the site of the MDC's West Hartford and Reservoir 6 filtration plants, five small reservoirs and more than 3,000 acres of some of the most beautiful woodlands and trails in the region -- all just minutes from downtown Hartford. The West Hartford Reservoir is located on Farmington Avenue. The entrance to Reservoir 6 is located on Route 44.
