About The Race

Welcome to the Dirt Dash, an adventure that seamlessly blends the beauty of nature with the thrill of trail running.

This is the same race you know and love but under new management with Palmetto Ultras.

Nestled within the heart of Johns Island, this race invites participants to embark on a journey through lush landscapes, winding trails, and breathtaking scenery that define the Lowcountry’s charm. The race begins at the Johns Island County Park, where runners will find themselves surrounded by ancient oaks draped in Spanish moss. The course is designed to challenge participants with a mix of terrains, from well-groomed paths through open meadows to wooded trails.

The race features various distances to cater to all levels of runners from beginners seeking a scenic challenge to seasoned trail runners aiming to test their limits.

The Dirt Dash isn’t just a race; it’s a celebration of athleticism, nature, and community. With its unique blend of trails and scenic beauty, this race promises an unforgettable experience for all those who lace up their trail shoes.

Packet Pickup + Pre Race Fun

Packet pick up will be held on October 11th from 2-6pm at one of the Fleet Feet locations (TBD). This is a great chance to support one of our sponsors and grab any last minute nutrition or gear that you’ll need for race day. You can also pick up your packet the day of the race from 7-7:30am at the Palmetto Ultras tent at the start/finish line.

We will have a pre race get together the night before on Friday, October 11th (likely at a local brewery)–details will be announced at a later time.

Camping via tent or RV is available the night before on site and can be purchased during registration.

Aid Station

There is one aid station located at the start finish line and it will be fully stocked with usual race day snacks like gummy candy, chips, pretzels, water, electrolyte drink, and more!

Whatever you will require during the 3.3 mile loop you must carry with you.

We will either have a food truck on site or we’ll be grilling out around 12pm. We’ll also have some breakfast items available earlier in the day– Exact menu is TBD!

The Course

The course is a beautiful 3.3 mile loop with a mix of grassy paths and wide open trails!

If you’re running the 5k you will run 1 loop
If you’re running the 10k you will run 2 loops
If you’re running the half marathon you will run 4 loops
If you’re running the marathon you will run 8 loops

A looped course means you don’t have to carry as much fluid/nutrition with you because you’ll be back at the start/finish line and the fully stocked aid station every 3.3 miles.

You are welcome to drop nutrition/fluids/gear off near the aid station so you can restock in between loops. We are not responsible for lost or stolen items.

Start Time/Cutoff Times

All distances will start right at 8am near the Palmetto Ultras tent and they have a cutoff time of 6 hours. This means you have until 2pm to cross the finish line and be considered an official finisher!

Swag & Awards

While we’re fine-tuning some of the details, rest assured that your race experience will be nothing short of extraordinary. And yes, we’re talking about some seriously impressive swag! Everyone who registers for the race is in for a treat – think top-notch gear and goodies that will make your trail-running heart skip a beat.

But that’s not all. Complete your chosen distance, and you’ll not only earn the satisfaction of conquering the course but also proudly wear a custom designed finisher’s medal.

And for those speedsters out there – the top three male and female finishers in each distance will earn a coveted award.

Cancellation Policy/ Distance Changes/Bib Transfers

This event will happen rain or shine unless the there are conditions that CCPRC deems unsafe to hold, which can cause the race to be shut down and postponed. No refunds will be issued. I will work very hard to get the event rescheduled as soon as possible if it is canceled. In the event that this happens you will be able to transfer your registration to the following year or to another runner if the new date doesn’t work for you.

If you need to change your distance or want to transfer your bib to another runner– you can do so up to 3 days out from the race on ultrasignup.
