Nakusp Half Marathon, 5K Fun Run/Walk and 10K Challenge

Description: Nakusp Half Marathon – The Half Marathon will be a challenging single-loop course of the surrounding country and hillside of beautiful Nakusp. A combination of Road, Dirt Road and Trail will be used, however, the run is mainly road. It will have a significant elevation gain and loss, as this is typical running in the Kootenays, rarely is it flat! The route will start and finish at the Gazebo Park, include a loop up into the Wells Road area, then over to Alexander Road where it will cross the highway and use a short stretch of the old rail bed trail to connect with Brouse Loop. A significant climb up Billings Road, then around the Crescent Bay area and back into Nakusp along the highway and beautiful Boardwalk along the lake. The 5km Fun Run/Walk is a 5km road run around Nakusp. Starting at the GAZEBO PARK in downtown Nakusp, runners will start with an out and back along 8th Ave. towards the Arena, then head west around the campground. Turn left on 10th, then right on the highway and left into the trailer park loop. Exiting the loop turn left on the highway then left after the elementary school. Then right on 2nd, cross Broadway and enter the Boardwalk for the final kilometer back to the finish. 10K Challenge – For runners stepping up their game and ready to tackle a 10K run. Two loops around the 5K route and they’ve reached their goal. Next stop, the Half Marathon!
